  Chase has teamed up with Official Payments Corp. to offer Chase customers the ability to pay federal, state and local taxes using a Chase Credit or Debit Card. This service allows customers to pay taxes electronically under agreement with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). All payments are processed promptly and the amount of the transaction including the tax payment and a convenience fee will appear on your monthly statement.

Types of Individual Federal Tax Payments that can be made through this service:
• 1040 (all types)
• Prior tax year
• Balance due notice
• 4868 Automatic extension
• 1040ES Estimated
• Form 1040 Installment agreement
• Form 1040 Advanced Payment of a Determined Deficiency
• Trust Fund Recovery Penalty including installment agreements

1. What is the Chase Tax Payment Service?
Chase has partnered with Official Payments Corp. to provide the ability for its customers to pay their federal, state and local taxes with their Chase Credit or Debit Card. This service enables credit card members to spread their taxes payments over time according to their schedule and convenience while meeting IRS and State Income Tax deadlines. Additionally, Chase cardholders can earn rewards, points or miles. Certain restrictions, limitations and exclusions apply. 2. What do you mean by federal, state, and local payments?
Federal payments made to the U.S. Treasury for personal and business income tax payments. State payments include both personal income tax payments as well as a wide range of business taxes and fees. Local payments include everything from property and real estate taxes to utility bills to parking and traffic citations.

3. How can I make a federal tax payment?
You can make a federal tax payment by visiting our website at www.officialpayments.com/chase. Our secure application offers you the convenience of paying your Federal taxes using your Chase Card. Your payment is processed immediately and you will receive a confirmation number as proof of your payment. The IRS will post the payment to your account based on the Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number entered during the transaction.

You can make a state or local tax payment at www.officialpayments.com/chase. Our secure application offers you the convenience of paying your state or local taxes using your Chase Card. Your payment is processed promptly and you will receive a confirmation number as proof of your payment. 7. Is there a fee charged for this service?
Official Payments Corp. charges a convenience fee to process payments. This fee is paid directly to Official Payments Corp. Government partners do not receive any portion of this fee. The convenience fee for local payments (e.g. property taxes, real estate taxes, parking citations, utility payments, etc.) may vary. You will be notified of the fee before your payment is made.1

8. Will I be charged a cash advance fee if I use a Chase credit or debit card?
No, your tax payment will be treated like a retail purchase and not a cash advance.

9. Will I receive proof that my transaction was processed?
Yes. You will receive a confirmation number at the end of the transaction as proof that your payment has been authorized.

10. How are payments posted to my IRS account?
The IRS will match the payment to your single or joint filer tax account based on the Social Security Number entered during the transaction. You should enter the social security number of the first (or primary) person listed on your tax return or form.

11. How are payments posted to my State account?
For state and local payments, the government or other entity will match up the unique ID number (Social Security Number, Parcel Number, Account Number, etc.) on the form you filled out to an electronic record they received from Official Payments Corp. of the tax or fee payments containing your unique ID number and whether the payment was made by telephone or Internet.

12. If I'm married and filing jointly, which spouse's Social Security Number should be used to complete the payment?
The IRS applies payments based on the social security number entered during the transaction process. To ensure that the payment is properly applied to the joint filer account, use the social security number of the first spouse listed on the tax return.

13. What should I mail to the IRS once my payment is completed?
You do need to file your tax return or amended return with the IRS. You do not need to mail in a payment voucher or any other payment information related to your completed payment. We will provide the IRS with the information needed to process and post your payment transaction.

14. What should I mail to the State once my payment is completed?
For state income tax returns, you must file the associated paper tax return. If you are requesting an extension by making a payment or making an estimated payment, you should check with your individual state to determine if you need to file the associated paper tax return.

15. How can I be sure that my payment will be timely?
The IRS or State payment date will be equal to the date your transaction is authorized and completed. You may pay on time electronically until midnight of the return due date. Therefore, you can make a payment early or on the due date and it will be credited timely.

18. What is the advantage of paying over the Internet or phone by credit card or debit card?
There are several advantages. First, the convenience of picking up the phone or going online and making your payment without writing a check and mailing your payment. Second, you could earn rewards, points or miles if your card has a rewards program. Third, if you pay with your credit card, your card may provide revolving credit. Additionally, once you receive your confirmation number, you'll have proof that your payment was received.

To earn rewards you must be enrolled in an eligible rewards program through your credit or debit card. Official Payments Corp. is not responsible for rewards.
